betsy killed it last night at opening night "laughtime television network" comedy show here in naperville.

unfortunately, the venue doesn't allow photography during shows, so this is the best i could do.

the show is now set for an open run every thursday night at the comedy shrine in naperville, il.

for this beetle, his life is beautiful; to harken back to yesterday's photos. for us, well, that is another story. there wlll be a bit less beauty on our front lawn.

late last night we noticed that our favorite tree in front of the house was the site of a japanese beetle all you can eat buffet.

sadly, i have learned today that there is not much that i can do at this stage to save the tree. the leaves are chewed from the very top to the bottommost branches.

evidently,controlling japanese beetles goes hand in hand with a lawn care plan. might be time to get one of those to thwart the next seasonal onslaught of their pretty but destructive offspring.

elliot was on vacation with his grandmother for the last week and arrived home late last night.

it's so good to have him back at home!

there is something about seeing your stuff on tv that is really cool. granted, it's just apple tv on my own television but it still holds a cool factor for me.

the kids were great tonight at dinner. was time for a special treat after putting up with me all week and elliot catching one on the head.

i am becoming more certain as a parent that ketchup can make almost any situation better.

i have never looked that up-close at the front of my car before to see this ornamental detail.

now that i have, i am expecting to wake up at midnight with chromed out menacing robot standing over me.

betsy is making her way into the city tonight to party like it is 1993 with her friends.

we'll have to see on monday's show how her new comedy chops work on them.

So I have been in Jersey for a couple hours and we are making headway.

Hoping to get some free time to meet with some peeps at night. We'll see.

I am still unsure what to think of the meetup. I have never been bullish on Chicago's tech community and this event didn't change that.

For some reason Chicago still tends to lag behind the coasts even with a level playing field called the internet.

I think the culprit is the culture and the industries that employ most of the tech people here like banking and insurance.

Maybe, it is just me and the type of tech community that I am seeking to be a part of. Could be that the coasts and the vibrant innovation that is occurring in the Boulder (yes, I said it) fit me best.
